Texts from The Basement

December 16, 2013

Over the last couple of years, since I allowed my kids to have cell phones, I’ve received some very interesting texts. More times than not, I get these texts while we are all in the same physical location.  That used to bug the hell out of me, but then I actually figured out I could take a picture of said text, and I realized it was blog fodder.

Now, I await that unsuspecting moment when I can capture a screen shot and share it with the world.  And before you hop on your high horse and tell me I shouldn’t exploit my kids in such a manner, let me remind you I harbored these little aliens in my actual body for 9 whole months and then pushed their big, fat square heads out of my body pretty much on my own without any help from the medical professionals who were paid dearly to attend to my every need.  And one time, I even did that twice in a 15-minute span, and I didn’t even get a fucking trophy for it. So your judgmental cries of foul will fall on deaf ears.

And with that I introduce to you a new (and hopefully regular feature) on Straight From Helle called Texts from The Basement.  Enjoy.

Note to Self:  I need to talk to this particular child about how music transcends time and age, and that “not being old enough” is no excuse to not be familiar with a particular artist or genre. Oh, and that good music doesn’t just come from video game soundtracks.  I may also need to turn my music down if they are hearing it from the basement.

Apparently, the younger you are, the more emoticons are needed to capture just HOW MUCH you feel about the world. Seems about right…
